Electrical Engineering Intern

The Electrical Engineering Intern will join the San Jose Laser R&D team at Lumentum, contributing to the development of optical technologies and commercial laser solutions, focusing on electrical system design.

• Support electrical system design of laser systems.
• Collaborate with seasoned engineers on PCB & PCBA schematic/layout design.
• Conduct hands-on bring-up and troubleshooting of prototype designs using electrical test equipment.
• Perform design analysis of electrical designs, including tolerance analysis and component specification compliance.
• Engage in new product development processes.
• Work on challenging new product designs.
• Participate in teamwork and communication with project members.

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Familiarity with PCBA CAD software and engineering analysis tools (e.g., LTSpice).
• Experience with electrical lab equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A sense of curiosity and enjoyment for hands-on work.
