Responsibilities
- Own opto-mechanical subsystems and identify technical risks and scalability constraints.
- Execute mechanical design and integration of precision components for various optical systems.
- Implement emerging optical technologies into quantum computing architectures.
- Generate stability and error budgets for opto-mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and physicists throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
- Advance design-for-manufacturing considerations using data-driven methodologies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in optical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in designing and validating laser-based opto-mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for system design and analysis.
- Working knowledge of Zemax (OpticsStudio) for optical layouts.
- Background in atomic physics, quantum optics, or photonics is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills to bridge physics and engineering perspectives.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
