The Power Electronics Engineer will support the core electrical energy management systems for fusion generators, focusing on high voltage electrical power systems and their operation.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, troubleshoot, and support high voltage electrical power systems for pulsed magnetic coils.
- Oversee design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of high-power electrical systems.
- Develop electrical system architecture and produce electrical schematics and installation drawings.
- Create cost-effective and reliable design solutions through a design review process.
- Collaborate with operators during machine commissioning and throughout the lifetime of the machine.
- Manage cost, schedule, and resource estimates for design, build, and delivery timelines.
- Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques with standard benchtop tools.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics and complex electrical engineering problems.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Experience in design, fabrication, installation, and testing of electrical systems.
- Strong background with solid-state switching technologies and power electronic components.
- Technical expertise in engineering concepts, principles, and project leadership experience.
- Advanced skills in electronic troubleshooting and relevant software tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, LTSpice, SIMtrex/Simplis, Altium, and Matlab.
