Responsibilities
- Evaluate data center designs based on program requirements, redundancy levels, availability goals, and risk factors, identifying potential single points of failure.
- Perform compliance reviews and due diligence of data center physical infrastructure for the deployment of Google services and critical infrastructure.
- Identify and resolve issues raised by the cross-functional teams and various external stakeholders.
- Reinforce standards across all regions to ensure consistency and successful product delivery per Google’s standards.
- Develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address interrelated issues, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, electrical, and architectural aspects.
- Communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with mission-critical facilities, focusing on data center multi-tenant facilities.
- 3 years of experience performing mechanical system analysis and using common engineering software packages.
- 3 years of experience in the bidding, design, operation, and commissioning of mechanical distribution systems.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a matrix organization.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time as needed.
