Responsibilities

  • Evaluate data center designs based on program requirements, redundancy levels, availability goals, and risk factors, identifying potential single points of failure.
  • Perform compliance reviews and due diligence of data center physical infrastructure for the deployment of Google services and critical infrastructure.
  • Identify and resolve issues raised by the cross-functional teams and various external stakeholders.
  • Reinforce standards across all regions to ensure consistency and successful product delivery per Google’s standards.
  • Develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address interrelated issues, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, electrical, and architectural aspects.
  • Communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with mission-critical facilities, focusing on data center multi-tenant facilities.
  • 3 years of experience performing mechanical system analysis and using common engineering software packages.
  • 3 years of experience in the bidding, design, operation, and commissioning of mechanical distribution systems.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a matrix organization.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time as needed.
