Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical prototypes for optical and sensing concepts.
- Create prototypes for cameras, sensors, and perception experiments.
- Conduct ergonomics and human-factors studies.
- Design prototype-only mechanical structures like optical mounts and adjustable frames.
- Perform rapid design iterations based on experimental results.
- Fabricate and modify prototype parts using rapid prototyping methods.
- Utilize 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting for prototype development.
Job Requirements
- Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Commitment to a 12-week internship during Summer 2026.
- Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals (statics, materials, tolerances).
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX).
- Comfortable working with physical hardware and prototype builds.
- Ability to learn quickly in an iterative, ambiguous environment.
- Preferred experience with consumer electronics or wearable devices.
