The role involves conceptual development of tooling and ground support systems for launch vehicles at Blue Origin, focusing on creating innovative and efficient production systems in collaboration with engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual development of tooling for launch vehicle structures and propulsion systems.
- Collaborate with flight and manufacturing engineering teams to define tooling requirements.
- Develop Concepts of Operations (ConOps) for new tooling to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Evaluate multiple tooling concepts to solve manufacturing challenges.
- Author Tooling Requirements Documents (TRDs) capturing design and operational criteria.
- Participate in design reviews to integrate tooling considerations into vehicle design.
- Introduce innovative manufacturing techniques to enhance efficiency and quality.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or tooling design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software for conceptual modeling.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams on system requirements.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and requirements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with hardware build and process validation is a plus.
