Responsibilities
- Independently design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and fixtures for prototypes.
- Create CAD models, drawings, and documentation for rapid iteration and manufacturing handoff.
- Select materials and manufacturing methods that balance speed, cost, and durability.
- Apply design-for-manufacturability principles for low-volume production.
- Build, assemble, test, and troubleshoot physical prototypes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify production risks and design tradeoffs.
- Document design decisions and prototype learnings to support future iterations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or hardware development.
- Proficiency with CAD tools and experience in creating manufacturing-ready files.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical prototypes and fabrication methods.
- Practical understanding of mechanical design fundamentals.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes like 3D printing and CNC machining.
- Ability to evaluate tradeoffs between prototype speed and manufacturability.
