Responsibilities
- Design and iterate on precision machines, motion stages, and inspection tooling.
- Lead mechanical system integration and coordinate with electrical and optics engineers.
- Drive mechanical design with a focus on manufacturability and assembly.
- Rapidly prototype and characterize new designs using various tools.
- Select and integrate precision components such as bearings and actuators.
- Develop error budgets and identify dominant error sources.
- Maintain a portfolio showcasing built projects.
Job Requirements
- 3 years of experience in designing and building precision mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in precision machine design fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, and assembly.
- Experience with selecting and integrating precision components.
- Familiarity with dimensional metrology techniques.
- Nice-to-have: formal training in precision engineering and experience at a startup.
- Familiarity with firmware, controls, or electrical engineering is a plus.
