Thermal Design Engineer, Project Kuiper (Satellites)

The role is for a Thermal Design Engineer within Project Kuiper, focusing on the thermal design solutions for satellites and customer terminals. The engineer will support spacecraft design through thermal analysis and provide recommendations for vehicle architects and subsystem leads.

• Support architectural trades with preliminary thermal analysis for spacecraft.
• Perform detailed analysis of Bus and Payload subsystems.
• Develop automated scripts for rapid analysis updates.
• Design and select heat pipes for components.
• Define and execute test setups for thermal cycling and TVAC tests.
• Document trades and design evolution for review gates.
• Conduct testing of prototypes for fast design feedback loops.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with thermal analysis software.
• 1+ year experience in test planning and results correlation.
• Experience in developing thermal control hardware and materials.
• Proficiency in thermal simulation software and programming.
• Advanced degree preferred (Master’s or PhD).
• Experience with spacecraft thermal design and CAD skills.
