Responsibilities
- Engineer mechanical design solutions for spacecraft flight hardware and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE).
- Create designs with DFM/DFA considering high-rate manufacturing.
- Perform preliminary FEA, hand calculations, and fastener margins for feasible designs.
- Create component drawings with appropriate GD&T for production.
- Develop assembly drawings, fabrication procedures, and build instructions.
- Coordinate with engineering teams on design improvements and clean sheet designs.
- Interface with programs and customers on design needs and requirements.
Job Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer, preferably in space vehicle design.
- Understanding of high-quality mechanical systems.
- Experience with configuration control and design release lifecycle.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing best practices.
- Proficient in Solidworks (or similar) CAD software.
- Ability to work in a team environment with leadership skills.
