Responsibilities
- Engineering custom vehicle structures and trim for Waymo vehicles.
- Collaborating with OEM partners to define changes to vehicle architecture/components.
- Working with internal teams to engineer solutions that meet various requirements.
- Interfacing with Tier One suppliers to bring designs to production, focusing on DFM feedback and quality.
- Creating and presenting trade matrices to outline different solutions based on various options.
- Developing hardware using a range of materials and manufacturing technologies.
- Engaging in supplier selection and working with the supply chain and SQE.
Job Requirements
- Approximately 10 years of Product Design experience with successful car platform launches.
- Experience in engineering vehicle structures and cosmetic A-Class components.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials including metals and plastics.
- Proficiency in Catia (V5/V6) for 3D and 2D production-ready designs.
- Strong communication skills across various organizational levels.
- Ability to read moldflow and optimize tooling design for quality and cost.
- Understanding of the PPAP quality process for automotive components.
