Responsibilities
- Develop a systems approach to rider comfort, focusing on motion control issues.
- Research prior art in comfort among industry, academia, and within Waymo.
- Develop metrics to measure comfort and analyze data from Waymo’s vehicle fleet.
- Draft requirements to formalize testable performance expectations.
- Consult with test engineers to establish verification and validation methods.
- Propose driving behavior changes and collaborate with software engineers on proof of concept.
- Run simulations or in-vehicle evaluations to measure improvements or regressions.
Job Requirements
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages (e.g., R, MATLAB, JavaScript).
- Knowledge of statistics, data science, or signal processing.
- Understanding of Newtonian physics, biomechanics, or dynamics/mechanics.
- Coursework in user experience (UX) or human factors/physiology.
- Technical writing skills.
- Familiarity with SQL or other query languages is preferred.
- Background in automotive, aerospace, or controls engineering is a plus.
