Responsibilities
- Develop designs, plans, and processes for building demonstration prototypes.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
- Provide input for selecting methods, tooling, and equipment based on project design requirements.
- Ensure manufacturability of all prototype components and sub-assemblies.
- Identify and mitigate design and manufacturing risks.
- Provide insight and technical guidance during build and test phases.
- Manage the budget for all R&D activities and track project progress.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, with heavy machinery/industrial experience.
- Knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly processes for large assemblies.
- Experience leading engineering projects from design through build and testing.
- Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with locomotive or rail vehicle manufacturing and FRA/AAR rules is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
