Mechanisms/ Payload Internship - Spring 2026

The Mechanisms/Payload Internship at Varda involves working on the design, building, testing, and operation of in-space manufacturing and reentry testbed payloads, providing a hands-on experience in aerospace engineering.

• Own or contribute to hardware or software design for spacecraft or payload.
• Create or support test campaigns and build test stands.
• Perform necessary analysis to support development and testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various technical disciplines.
• Utilize mechanical CAD software for design tasks.
• Work with electromechanical hardware components.
• Engage with experienced aerospace professionals to enhance technical skills.

• Experience with mechanical CAD (NX preferred).
• Experience designing, building, and/or operating electromechanical hardware.
• Basic programming skills in at least one language (Python preferred).
• Comfort using common hand tools and interest in machine tools for fabrication.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in relevant engineering fields.
• Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
• Experience on technical project teams (e.g., Rocket club, Formula SAE) is a plus.
