Responsibilities
- Act as the primary design point of contact for Tesla's battery systems.
- Understand battery design and the manufacturing systems involved.
- Launch new battery variants based on existing architectures.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process, and Quality teams to implement product improvements.
- Analyze field failures and drive design changes for warranty improvements.
- Participate in design reviews and manage BOM changes and design revisions.
- Conduct supplier visits for part qualifications and design change reviews.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the year.
- Experience in battery or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, electrical, mechanics, and basic electronics.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling, with CATIA V5/V6 experience preferred.
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding and welding.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
