At our company, we transform discarded electronics into critical resources using cutting-edge robotics and computer vision. We are looking for a true full-stack hardware engineer a highly versatile Mechatronics Engineer who thrives at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
In this role, you will not be siloed into a single discipline. You will own the end-to-end development of the robotic systems that physically dismantle, visually analyze, and sort complex e-waste to reclaim precious metals. If you love jumping from 3D modeling a custom end-effector, to routing a custom PCB, to tuning a PID loop, to deploying a machine vision model all in the same week, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and iterate on complex mechanical assemblies, custom robotic end-effectors, and automated material handling systems using 3D CAD software.
- Design custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) and specify industrial electrical components, managing the full system-level electrical integration and power distribution.
- Develop and deploy computer vision pipelines to rapidly identify, map, and classify micro-components on highly varied and unpredictable circuit boards.
- Write robust, low-latency control software in C++ and Python to seamlessly orchestrate robotic manipulators, sensors, and actuators.
- Lead the physical integration and testing of complex electromechanical systems on the production floor, rapidly diagnosing and resolving cross-disciplinary hardware bugs.
- Collaborate across software, process, and chemical engineering teams to ensure hardware aligns with the broader material recovery workflow.
Job Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience building and deploying complex electromechanical systems or industrial automation.
- Demonstrated expertise in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.) and hands-on fabrication techniques.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering, including PCB design (Altium, KiCad) and working with industrial control panels.
- Proficiency in computer vision frameworks (OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and deploying models for object detection or spatial mapping.
- Strong programming proficiency in modern C++ and Python.
- A strong portfolio of hardware projects demonstrating an ability to take a system from a blank page to a functional, moving prototype.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex, cross-disciplinary technical concepts clearly.
