Mechanical Engineer, Preconstruction

The role involves working as a Mechanical Engineer in Tesla's Preconstruction & Development Group, focusing on early-stage planning and design of facilities and infrastructure to support sustainable energy initiatives.

• Perform detailed engineering calculations for mechanical systems (piping, HVAC, plumbing).
• Develop and analyze 3D models using Revit for building information modeling (BIM).
• Create precise 2D and 3D drawings in AutoCAD for design documentation.
• Utilize PipeFlo software for simulating fluid flow and system performance.
• Conduct energy modeling and load calculations to evaluate HVAC efficiency.
• Create and maintain Basis of Design (BOD) documentation for projects.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate mechanical designs into preconstruction deliverables.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in engineering software including Revit, AutoCAD, and PipeFlo.
• Strong analytical skills in load calculations and fluid dynamics.
• Familiarity with relevant codes (ASHRAE, IPC, IMC) and sustainable design principles (LEED).
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical data to stakeholders.
• Ability to travel to project sites and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with additional tools like Navisworks or Bluebeam is a plus.
