Responsibilities
- Deliver technical designs for vehicle packaging and material handling optimized for weight, precision, and durability.
- Perform CAD, FEA, and durability simulations of concept designs, recommending prototypes and executing testing.
- Conduct technical design reviews ensuring compliance to standards (ASTM, ISTA, etc.).
- Deliver finished designs, detailed drawings, and engineering specifications for supplier bidding.
- Research and implement new techniques and technologies to improve vehicle packaging capability.
- Participate in supplier evaluations to ensure technical deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on design methodology, functional requirements, and project execution.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
- 5+ years of experience in designing mechanical components and systems from concept to production validation.
- Strong skills in CAD and CAE simulation (CATIA, Pro-Engineer, ANSYS, etc.).
- Ability to deliver designs with accurate datum structure, GD&T, and tolerance stack up analysis.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and various manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of a variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.).
- Experience with design for reliability and durability testing requirements, especially with automation equipment.
