Responsibilities
- Conduct concept engineering and feasibility studies.
- Package and layout designs within vehicle architecture.
- Design customer-driven exterior system targets for craftsmanship, function, cost, and weight.
- Collaborate with the Tesla design/styling studio to balance form, function, and cost.
- Perform detail design including surface development and GD&T.
- Utilize DFSS methodologies during design, validation, and launch.
- Collaborate with suppliers for DFM and tooling design approvals.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with Catia V5/V6 or other CAD software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of plastic part design and injection molding.
- Experience managing suppliers for product development.
- Familiarity with DFSS methodologies in automotive programs.
- Understanding of design differences in low and high-volume production.
