This role is for a Mechanical Engineer Intern at Tesla, focusing on specifying and designing Structural Repair Procedures and service parts for Tesla electric vehicles. The internship is expected to last from August or September 2026 through December 2026, with potential extension into Winter/Spring 2027.
Responsibilities
- Create and present collision repair procedures for engineering teams.
- Review 3D models for repair feasibility.
- Collaborate with engineers and collision centers to identify root causes of issues.
- Review crash simulations.
- Design service parts in CAD and create 2D drawings.
- Conduct hands-on investigations, lab tests, and validations.
- Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
Job Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Preferred experience in mechanical design and drafting.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD and 2D Drawing in SolidWorks or Catia.
- Strong experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Hands-on experience in building mechanical systems is preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Proven ability to solve challenging problems and coordinate projects under tight deadlines.
