Project Design Engineer

The Project Design Engineer at Standard Motor Products Inc. is responsible for the design and development of automotive system components, requiring a broad knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and technologies.

• Designing and developing products for the automotive market.
• Researching and applying new design and manufacturing concepts.
• Self-educating on product-related technologies to function as a subject matter expert.
• Completing Bill of Materials and detailed component & assembly drawings.
• Evaluating and approving components and final assemblies.
• Effective communication with outside vendors.
• Establishing product test specifications and validation requirements.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of related product development experience.
• Proficient in using SOLIDWORKS.
• Knowledge of automotive sensors and actuators, DFMA, PCB design, and materials.
• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proficient in PC skills.
