The role of a Propulsion Engineer at Argo involves supporting the development of water-based propulsion systems for reusable in-space transport vehicles, focusing on both chemical and electric propulsion systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze propulsion components and systems using computational tools and first-principles calculations.
- Prototype, troubleshoot, and test propulsion hardware and systems.
- Qualify propulsion hardware for expected mission environments.
- Draft and implement build and test procedures aligned with mission risk posture.
- Conduct design reviews, test readiness reviews, and flight readiness reviews with emphasis on technical excellence.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers on various projects related to propulsion systems.
- Maintain flexibility in direction under changing circumstances.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
- Experience in electric propulsion systems and spacecraft propulsion systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 2+ years of experience designing or testing spacecraft propulsion systems.
- 5+ years of experience designing and testing propulsion systems in harsh environments.
- Familiarity with CAD and FEA software and high-level programming languages.
