The role of a Propulsion Engineer at Argo involves supporting the development of water-based propulsion systems for reusable in-space transport vehicles, focusing on both chemical and electric propulsion systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze propulsion components and systems using computational tools and first-principles calculations.
  • Prototype, troubleshoot, and test propulsion hardware and systems.
  • Qualify propulsion hardware for expected mission environments.
  • Draft and implement build and test procedures aligned with mission risk posture.
  • Conduct design reviews, test readiness reviews, and flight readiness reviews with emphasis on technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers on various projects related to propulsion systems.
  • Maintain flexibility in direction under changing circumstances.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
  • Experience in electric propulsion systems and spacecraft propulsion systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 2+ years of experience designing or testing spacecraft propulsion systems.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and testing propulsion systems in harsh environments.
  • Familiarity with CAD and FEA software and high-level programming languages.
