The Mechanical Engineer (Super Heavy Booster) role at SpaceX involves working with the Booster Mechanical Engineering team to create a manufacturable first stage for rockets, ensuring manufacturability and overseeing hardware production throughout its lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with vehicle analysts and design teams to ensure solutions meet design and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop production procedures and manage the transition from development to high-rate production.
- Coordinate and execute testing of systems, machinery, and tooling.
- Implement design changes to enhance production efficiency.
- Create CAD models and prints for components.
- Lead the on-site design engineering contact for parts and assemblies.
- Resolve manufacturing discrepancies in collaboration with the quality team.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or production.
- Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD software for design and analysis.
- Familiarity with design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
- Experience transitioning products from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a production environment.
