Mechanical Engineer, Machine Design (Starship)

The Mechanical Engineer for Machine Design at SpaceX will work within the Starship Tooling team to design, build, and activate critical production assets for the Starship launch vehicle at the Brownsville facility.

• Design, build, and activate custom machinery and infrastructure for Starship production.
• Develop the Starfactory for rapid build, test, and operation.
• Collaborate with vehicle engineers to enhance design and manufacturing processes.
• Execute structural sizing, mechanism design, hardware fabrication, and testing.
• Create detailed models and engineering prints using NX.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis for structures and mechanisms.
• Create manufacturing planning for internal teams and support machine activation.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience with CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, NX).
• 1+ years of experience in mechanical structures design/build.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a production facility with machinery.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis and GD&T.
• Ability to pass Air Force background check and willingness to travel.
