The Mechanical Design Engineer (Starlink Production) role at SpaceX involves designing the factory of the future for mass production of satellites and high-performance space hardware. Responsibilities
- Design and develop structures, mechanisms, and automation equipment for high-volume production of Starlink Satellites.
- Own projects throughout their lifecycle from concept to production.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with flight design and production teams on satellite and production processes.
- Solve complex problems with a focus on execution speed and efficiency.
- Coordinate with internal and external resources, maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Assemble and commission designed equipment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- 1+ year of experience in designing mechanical systems using 3D CAD software.
- Experience with structural design and analysis.
- Familiarity with custom machine design and electromechanical systems.
- Ability to perform structural hand calculations.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and hands-on machining.
