Manufacturing Engineer, Machining (Starship)

The Manufacturing Engineer, Machining at SpaceX will develop machining capabilities for Starship components and ensure high-quality precision parts are delivered for assembly. This role involves collaboration between engineering and production teams to optimize hardware design and manufacturing processes.

• Develop in-house machining capabilities for Starship components.
• Analyze piece parts and assemblies for design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Maintain feedback loops with operations to ensure product success.
• Review quality concerns and oversee investigations into part tolerances.
• Identify, procure, and maintain machine shop equipment.
• Drive cost optimization and reduction initiatives.
• Improve manufacturing methodologies and techniques.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 1+ years of machine shop experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with machining equipment setup and operation.
• Proficiency in CNC programming and standard manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of GD&T and inspection procedures.
• Experience with precision metrology systems.
