Responsibilities
- Develop machining capability in-house for the SpaceX Starship components team.
- Analyze piece parts and assemblies for DFM to optimize for manufacturing and assembly.
- Maintain a close feedback loop with downstream operations for product success.
- Review quality concerns from piece part inspection and investigate out of tolerance conditions.
- Identify, recommend, procure, and install machine shop equipment.
- Responsible for cost optimization and reduction initiatives in fabrication processes.
- Collaborate with other SpaceX machine shop facilities to address capacity and scheduling issues.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or physics.
- 1+ years of machine shop experience.
- Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art machining equipment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming (lathes and mills).
- Knowledge of GD&T and inspection procedures.
- Experience with precision conventional and advanced metrology systems.
- Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed.
