The Electrical Engineer (Crew Starship Avionics) role at SpaceX involves developing high reliability spacecraft electronics for the Crew Starship vehicles, supporting flight hardware from conception through operations, and working collaboratively across teams to ensure reliable systems for space missions.
Responsibilities
- Develop high reliability spacecraft electronics for Crew Starship vehicles.
- Support or act as responsible engineer for flight hardware, from conception through build, qualification, and ultimately flight operations.
- Perform component selection, design analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, debugging, circuit validation, and design documentation for electrical designs.
- Assist with electrical architecture, product requirements, manufacturing planning, and production testing.
- Execute development and qualification testing campaigns to ensure reliable flight hardware.
- Directly support NASA with deliverables for Crew Starship milestones.
- Collaborate with experts from other teams to ensure efficient, manufacturable, and reliable systems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 1+ years of experience designing, building, or testing circuit boards or other electronics.
- Passion for spaceflight and designing electronics for high reliability applications.
- Experience with system trades and knowledge of hardware requirements.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and board layout tools, preferably Altium or Circuit Maker.
- Basic understanding of EMI/EMC and design-for-manufacture principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
