The Electrical Design Engineer, Satellites role at SpaceX involves ownership over the entire life-cycle of hardware for Starlink, focusing on electrical, mechanical, thermal analysis, software, and antenna/RF engineering.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
- Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, test, and on-orbit performance of complex electrical designs.
- Support hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight.
- Collaborate with engineers from adjacent disciplines to deliver integrated, high-performance hardware.
- Challenge assumptions and approach problems with an open mind.
- Participate in the design, development, and success of avionics systems and payload hardware.
- Engage in full life-cycle development of new hardware products.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
- 1+ years of experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in designing and delivering reliable products.
- Strong understanding of mixed-signal circuit boards and relevant technologies.
- Experience in testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics.
- Ability to work in a highly cross-functional role and meet critical deadlines.
