The Electrical Design Engineer, Satellites role at SpaceX involves ownership over the entire life-cycle of hardware for Starlink, focusing on electrical, mechanical, thermal analysis, software, and antenna/RF engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
  • Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, test, and on-orbit performance of complex electrical designs.
  • Support hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight.
  • Collaborate with engineers from adjacent disciplines to deliver integrated, high-performance hardware.
  • Challenge assumptions and approach problems with an open mind.
  • Participate in the design, development, and success of avionics systems and payload hardware.
  • Engage in full life-cycle development of new hardware products.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
  • 1+ years of experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in designing and delivering reliable products.
  • Strong understanding of mixed-signal circuit boards and relevant technologies.
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics.
  • Ability to work in a highly cross-functional role and meet critical deadlines.
