The Launch Mechanical Engineer II at Relativity Space will lead mechanical design projects for the Terran R rocket, coordinating technical requirements and developing CAD models and schematics, while performing structural and system analyses.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design projects from concept through implementation.
- Coordinate technical requirements with vehicle and ground support engineering teams.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, 2D mechanical drawings, and fluid system schematics.
- Perform structural, dynamic, and system performance analyses using calculations and finite element methods.
- Present design concepts and project updates to engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure high-quality results are delivered on schedule.
- Collaborate across teams to solve complex engineering problems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of two years of professional engineering experience in relevant areas.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including structural analysis.
- Proven ability to deliver results under challenging conditions.
- Experience with launch vehicle interface mechanisms or similar systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with NASA, DoD, or Space Force standards is beneficial.
- Knowledge of structural materials and fabrication processes is an advantage.
