Mixed Signal Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Posted on:

This is the job we always wanted - creating a foundational technology and commercializing a new invention! You will take designs from proof of concept to prototype and mass production. You will be responsible for schematic capture, board layout, analog circuit design, and extensive testing and debugging. You will be a part of creating a new technology and understanding the limits of what it can do. There is no recipe or roadmap for what we are doing so high marks are given to creativity and a willingness to figure things out. If you believe that hardware development should be as fast and easy as software development, and you are interested in solving a grand challenge, you may be a good fit.

Responsibilities

You will take our designs from proof of concept to prototype and mass production. You will be responsible for schematic capture, board layout, analog circuit design, and extensive testing and debugging. You will be a part of creating the technology and understanding the limits of what it can do. You have shipped multiple electronic products through the NPI phases and are comfortable with the concepts of EVT, DVT, and PVT. If you understand analog circuits and have pulled your hair out trying to debug a crosstalk or desense issue, we want to talk to you. If you believe that hardware development should be as fast and easy as software development, and you are interested in solving a grand challenge, you may be a good fit. This is not a role for an architect or systems engineer who is uncomfortable with mixed-signal design or someone who is not able to work in person in San Francisco.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience
  • BS or MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related field
  • Altium, KICAD, or Cadence experience
    • Schematic capture, component creation, multilayer layout (6+ layers with controlled impedance)
  • Exceptional test and debug skills
    • Comfortable with equipment like oscilloscope, four quadrant power supply, source measurement unit, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, electronic loads etc
    • Knowledge of safe grounding, isolation, and debugging techniques
  • A willingness to combine mixed-signal design techniques to creatively solve problems.
  • Experience working with a firmware team and running or modifying scripts to accelerate bring-up.
  • A good understanding of circuit primitives especially transistors. You know about a body diode, understand leakage, and have intuition for discovering hidden errors in design and manufacturing.
  • Experience with microprocessors, switching power supplies, and communication buses is a must.
  • Experience with FPGA or custom ASICs is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with tuning and measuring intentional radiators.
