Responsibilities
- Interpret customer design input requirements, including regulatory and environmental constraints.
- Participate in early-stage concept development, designing and creating preliminary 3D CAD models.
- Present design concepts to the engineering department during Preliminary Design Review.
- Perform design changes based on team feedback on the selected final design concept.
- Finalize 3D CAD models and generate 2D CAD drawings of the selected design.
- Collaborate with procurement to select vendors and procure prototypes of the selected design.
- Create Design Validation Test Plans for the selected design.
Job Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering program (BS/MS/PhD).
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical design principles.
- Familiarity with materials such as metals, plastics, and rubber is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge/experience in CAD, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must continue enrollment in the degree program upon completion of the internship.
- U.S. person status as defined by ITAR regulations is required.
- Knowledge of designing for CNC machining and injection molding preferred.
