Responsibilities

  • Construct a testable hypothesis and experiment plan/system design using engineering and optics principles.
  • Collaborate with a senior team to create a work plan, build prototypes, and conduct test measurements.
  • Execute experiments, document, and interpret results using sound engineering principles.
  • Review approaches, plans, results, and interpretations with the senior team.
  • Conduct literature reviews as needed.
  • Design and build experiment hardware and software, including circuit design and basic machining.
  • Work independently while seeking direction and assistance when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a degree in engineering, physics, or a related field, graduating December 2026 or later.
  • Strong background in electromagnetism, optical physics, mathematics, and engineering.
  • Experience with basic circuit design and electrical measurement methods.
  • Experience in running experiments and collecting data using scientific methods.
  • Preferred experience with CAD software and hands-on experience with 3D printers and machining equipment.
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in Everett, WA for the summer.
