The Mechanical Test Engineer II role at Blue Origin involves supporting the development and operations of the New Glenn heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. The engineer will perform production testing of mechanical separation systems and coordinate manufacturing activities for energetic device assemblies, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute production acceptance tests on ordnance-actuated mechanical systems.
  • Manage work orders, materials procurement, and test scheduling.
  • Configure test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities for energetic device assemblies.
  • Conduct hands-on testing involving pyrotechnic devices and high-pressure gas systems.
  • Maintain test equipment and the cleanliness of testing areas.
  • Support the development of test procedures and acceptance criteria documentation.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with aerospace hardware assembly and testing.
  • Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components.
  • Direct experience executing production or qualification tests.
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Physics or related technical field.
  • Experience with work order management and production scheduling.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
