(COPV) Mechanical Design Engineer III - Lunar Permanence, Core Components

The Mechanical Design Engineer III role at Blue Origin involves developing the Lunar Transportation system for human spaceflight, focusing on creating detailed designs and CAD models for pressure vessels and composites. This position requires collaboration with NASA and other partners to advance lunar lander technologies.

• Create architecture and detailed designs for lunar transportation systems.
• Develop CAD models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing processes for composites and pressure vessels.
• Execute test plans for COPV qualification and acceptance, including data analysis.
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors for COPV design and manufacturing.
• Support integration of COPVs on vehicles and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct research to identify and implement design improvements for COPVs.
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in all engineering processes.

• B.S. degree in engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• Strong mechanical design skills, including familiarity with CAD software.
• Knowledge of structural design and material selection for composites and metals.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with GD&T analysis and technical writing.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
