Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems for fusion experiments.
  • Collaborate with physicists and engineers to implement and refine experimental electrical systems.
  • Specify, procure, assemble, and test electrical hardware including power distribution and diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot using oscilloscopes and other test equipment to diagnose noise and grounding issues.
  • Implement grounding, shielding, and filtering strategies for reliable measurements.
  • Support experiment operation by maintaining measurement systems and diagnostics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of lab electrical practices and documentation.

Job Requirements

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical or instrumentation engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals and troubleshooting hardware systems.
  • Experience with analog and mixed-signal systems.
  • Familiarity with sensors and transducers in experimental environments.
  • Experience mitigating measurement noise and designing grounding systems.
  • Comfort working directly with physical hardware in a lab setting.
