Hardware Design Engineering, Senior Director - Active Electric Cable / Smart Cable Module Business

The Senior Director of Hardware Design Engineering at Astera Labs will lead the hardware design engineering organization focused on Active Electrical Cables, Smart Cable Modules, and other connectivity products, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from concept to production.

• Lead and scale the hardware design engineering organization.
• Oversee electrical/PCB design, mechanical engineering, and hardware validation.
• Build and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Define and manage the hardware technology roadmap.
• Drive R&D and new product development for hardware products.
• Ensure rigorous design review processes and critical technical trade-offs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and alignment with market needs.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 18+ years of progressive experience in hardware design engineering.
• 8+ years in engineering management roles.
• Deep technical expertise in high-speed PCB design and signal integrity.
• Strong background in mechanical engineering for interconnect products.
• Proven experience in hardware validation and qualification programs.
• Excellent executive communication skills for presenting to leadership.
