Mechanical Design Engineer, In House Cell Engineering

The role is for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer on the Cell Engineering Team at Tesla, focusing on Li-on cell mechanical components and assemblies.

• Full design ownership of Li-on cell mechanical components and assemblies
• Develop and deliver new technologies to advance product performance
• Produce and release detailed 2D part and assembly drawings
• Drive cross functional collaboration with CAE, manufacturing, and test teams
• Research and benchmark competitive technologies
• Author documentation and deliver technical presentations
• Hands on support of manufacturing process and automation development

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics and heat transfer
• Basic knowledge of GD&T, proficiency in 3D CAD modeling
• Experience in designing for high volume manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with Lithium-ion battery cell, module, and pack design preferred
• Direct machine shop fabrication and prototyping skills preferred
• Proficiency in structural and/or thermal FEA preferred
