Mechanical Design Engineer - Metal Structures

Mainspring is looking for Mechanical Design Engineers at the Senior or Staff Engineer levels to focus on designing structures for their linear generator technology.

• Lead brainstorming activities to improve the Linear Generator.
• Develop and optimize mechanical subsystems to reduce costs and enhance performance.
• Collaborate with reliability and test teams for validation and deployment.
• Work cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering and external suppliers.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• Expertise in sheet metal, stamping/forming operations, and system level design optimization.
• Understanding of metal castings, plastic manufacturing, welding, hardware selection, and finishing processes.
• Attention to detail in design documentation, bill of materials, and test reports.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
• Experience with tolerance stackup analysis and full design lifecycle.
• Interest in developing cost-effective solutions for zero carbon energy technology deployment.
