Field Systems Engineering Intern (Fall 2025)

The Field Systems Engineering Intern will contribute to the development and enhancement of systems for effective operations within Zipline, focusing on both flight testing and commercial use. The role involves managing projects, collaborating with teams, and refining maintenance procedures.

• Contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of system improvements for the Platform 2 system.
• Conduct Mechanical and Electrical design work to create and improve tools for flight maintenance operations.
• Evaluate and streamline existing processes and policies to increase team efficiency.
• Collaborate with teams to create and update technical documentation for aircraft and ground infrastructure.
• Analyze repair and work order data using SQL and Python for root cause analysis.
• Tackle complex engineering problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Travel to flight test sites to validate system changes and define key performance metrics.

• Mechanical/Electrical design, prototyping, and CAD proficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Linux and troubleshooting hardware/software systems.
• Experience in data analysis using SQL and Python.
• Experience in reliability analysis and root cause analysis.
• Strong project management skills.
• Willingness to travel for hands-on development and testing.
