Responsibilities
- Engineer mechanical design solutions for spacecraft flight hardware and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE).
- Create designs considering DFM/DFA for high-rate manufacturing.
- Perform preliminary FEA, hand calculations, and fastener margin assessments.
- Develop component and assembly drawings with appropriate GD&T.
- Collaborate with the integration team to create fabrication procedures and build instructions.
- Interface with programs and customers regarding design needs and requirements.
- Coordinate with test engineers to execute test plans and conduct root cause analyses.
Job Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer, preferably in space vehicle design.
- Strong understanding of high-quality mechanical systems.
- Moderate experience with configuration control and design release lifecycle.
- Excellent Solidworks (or similar) CAD skills.
- Demonstrates self-initiated work and strong leadership in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
