Responsibilities
- Engineer mechanical design solutions for spacecraft flight hardware and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE).
- Create designs with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) considerations.
- Perform preliminary Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations for design feasibility.
- Develop component and assembly drawings with appropriate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Coordinate with engineering teams on design improvements and clean sheet designs.
- Interface with programs and customers to address design needs and requirements.
- Collaborate with test engineers to prepare and execute test plans and conduct root cause analyses.
Job Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer, preferably in space vehicle design.
- Moderate understanding of high-quality mechanical systems.
- Experience with configuration control and design release lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Solidworks (or similar CAD software).
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
