Mechanical Engineer

The role is for a Mechanical Engineer at York Space Systems, focusing on creating affordable and efficient mechanical designs for spacecraft and ground support equipment. The position requires proficiency in CAD and a strong engineering background, preferably with aerospace experience.

• Engineer mechanical design solutions for spacecraft flight hardware and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE).
• Create designs with DFM/DFA considering rate manufacturing.
• Perform preliminary FEA and hand calculations to ensure feasible designs.
• Create component and assembly drawings with appropriate GD&T.
• Coordinate with engineering on clean sheet designs and improvements.
• Interface with programs and customers on design needs and requirements.
• Coordinate with test engineers for test plans and root cause analyses.

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer, preferably in space vehicle design.
• Understanding of high-quality mechanical systems and manufacturing best practices.
• Excellent CAD skills (Solidworks or similar).
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
• Bonus qualifications include experience in spacecraft development lifecycle and model-based definition.
