The Power Electronics Engineer role involves modeling, designing, implementing, testing, and benchmarking power electronics for Tau's motor drives, focusing on both high and low-voltage applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and build hardware for power electronics converters in automotive and energy storage applications.
- Take ownership of hardware from specification to design, prototype, validation, and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineering teams.
- Develop new power converter topologies for improved performance.
- Advance Tau's intellectual property in power electronic systems.
- Utilize tools like PLECS, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink, and dSPACE.
- Supervise PCB layout to optimize manufacturability and EMC.
Job Requirements
- 1-3 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in automotive.
- Familiarity with power electronics applications and control of variable frequency converters.
- Strong understanding of power electronics topologies and high voltage power semiconductor selection.
- Experience with analog and digital circuit design.
- Proficiency with hands-on EE tools (oscilloscopes, network analyzers).
- Master's or PhD degree in relevant engineering fields is desired.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and EMC requirements.
