Responsibilities
- Evaluate and prototype new technologies in Cellular Connectivity, Wireless Connectivity, and Location Technologies.
- Work with external technology and SoC vendors to align their offerings with Samsara's product vision.
- Collaborate with product teams to align technology exploration with future product requirements.
- Bridge the gap between new technologies and potential products by working with hardware and software teams.
- Communicate and collaborate with firmware/software engineers, product managers, and hardware engineers.
- Integrate robust security considerations into product development.
- Navigate and apply regulatory compliance requirements for wireless and IoT devices.
Job Requirements
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on development experience with embedded technologies.
- Practical experience with embedded Linux systems and RTOS systems.
- Comfort with low-level C, Linux kernel development, and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Experience with hardware-firmware integration and common hardware communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I²C, UART).
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Experience taking products from inception to productization is preferred.
