Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will focus on electronics packaging design for Rivian's automotive components, ensuring manufacturability and performance within the vehicle's design constraints.

• Design and release electronics packaging for internally developed components.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define packaging space requirements.
• Create enclosures and mechanical assemblies for Infotainment and body control systems.
• Ensure designs meet automotive requirements, including manufacturability and mechanical acceptance.
• Manage production by optimizing designs for high volume manufacturing.
• Conduct mechanical validation, including CAE analysis for thermal and vibration durability.
• Integrate designs within the vehicle to ensure mechanical performance.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in die-casting, sheet metal stamping, and injection molded plastics.
• Proficiency in CAD tools, preferably Catia V5 or V6.
• Knowledge of mechanical constraints and collaboration with Electrical Engineers.
• Experience in thermal and mechanical simulations, Ansys preferred.
• Familiarity with GD&T and high volume production processes.
• Expertise in tooling design and mechanical shock and vibration considerations.
