Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer at Oklo is responsible for developing design solutions for advanced reactor technology, focusing on structural components and mechanical systems within reactor modules. The role involves CAD modeling, analysis coordination, documentation, and ensuring manufacturability of designs.

• Develop and own the design of complex mechanical components and subsystems within the reactor module.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams to define design and functional requirements.
• Use CAD tools to create robust designs that meet structural and thermal constraints.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical feedback.
• Evaluate mechanical designs to identify deficiencies and propose solutions.
• Generate and maintain detailed CAD models and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with analysis teams to guide thermal and structural analyses.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 4+ years of industry experience in mechanical or structural design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks).
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, including DFM and DFA.
• Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings applying GD&T.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
