Responsibilities

  • Specify and decompose the hierarchical scenario space into a scenario taxonomy for L4 autonomous vehicles.
  • Identify and design key features of the Scenario Taxonomy considering system capabilities and stakeholder requirements.
  • Assess the Scenario Taxonomy for data correctness/accuracy and sufficiency in identifying failure modes against the system's ODD.
  • Collaborate with teams across Nuro, including Systems V&V, Autonomy Development, Mapping, Data Infrastructure, and Operations.
  • Engage in existing taxonomy efforts, including understanding database structures and storage.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the application of systems engineering concepts of requirements, verification, and validation.

Job Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand existing taxonomy efforts and database structures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience driving a motorized vehicle on public roads in the US.
  • Basic understanding of autonomous vehicle technology, especially sensors and perception capabilities.
  • Familiarity with simulation capabilities and limitations.
