Responsibilities
- Lead a team in designing and analyzing optical payloads, including telescope and optical bench subsystems.
- Manage the production of laser and focal plane subsystems in active and passive optical payloads.
- Collaborate with Payload IPT leads and Lines of Business leadership to understand mission drivers and performance parameters.
- Support proposal writing and reviews for optical payloads.
- Integrate emerging mission trends into current optical and laser subsystems.
- Contribute technically to programs, spending 70% of time on technical tasks.
- Mentor and manage a team of approximately 12 individuals, spending 30% of time on functional management.
Job Requirements
- Proven technical leadership in optical payloads, LIDAR systems, or laser subsystems.
- Experience with high TRL optical subsystems and related testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science field with 14-20 years of experience, or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong communication skills for building relationships with internal teams and customers.
- Experience in performance modeling and systems engineering for electro-optical hardware.
- Current Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Functional management experience leading engineers in relevant fields.
