We are seeking a Localization and Controls Engineer to join our GNC team in designing an autonomous localization and control system for a novel hull crawling marine robot, with key requirements towards reliability and full navigational autonomy. They will work directly with the CRABI team to bring our robot to life, contributing to our mission of reducing maritime C02 emissions by 100 million tons.

US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and then implement control and localization software.
  • Architect and then implement robot sensing and state estimation.
  • Define and perform system tuning and tests.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate localization and control requirements with vehicle hardware.

Job Requirements

  • High level of proficiency with robotic navigation, motion/path planning, and controls.
  • Experience in Hardware Sensor Integration and data filtering.
  • Experience in sensor fusion and SLAM algorithms.
  • Able to start full time ASAP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in marine robotics.
  • Experience in wheeled robot inertial guidance.
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • 2-5 years’ work experience in jobs related to robotics engineering OR 2+ years of practical experience on a student build team (FSAE Driverless, Rocketry, etc.). OR 2+ years of graduate-level academic research.
  • A graduate-level degree with thesis work related to robotics.
