Manufacturing Engineer (Opto-Mechanical)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for opto-mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop, document, and optimize metrology processes for opto-mechanical assemblies in production.
  • Collaborate with optical design engineers to ensure manufacturability and DFM/DFA of optical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on quality and long-term reliability.
  • Manage the optics manufacturing cleanroom, including sourcing equipment and setting processes.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the production floor, resolving build issues and improving yields.
  • Support environmental and functional testing in production.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated manufacturing experience in high-precision opto-mechanical manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of optical metrology equipment experience.
  • Preferred: MS/PhD degree in relevant fields.
  • Preferred: 6+ years of experience in high-precision opto-mechanical manufacturing.
  • Preferred: Experience with optical centration station automation and oversight.
  • Preferred: Background in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and continuous improvement methods.
