Responsibilities
- Design, build, and test subsystems utilizing CAD, machine shop, and lab.
- Ensure seamless integration of individual subsystems in the MVP and prototypes.
- Interface with external part fabrication when needed.
- Develop and enhance in-house machining capabilities.
- Specify, downselect, and modify COTS components.
- Create process flow diagrams, models, and simulations of prototype and production systems.
- Participate in and lead design reviews of mechanical subsystems.
Job Requirements
- Deeply motivated by the climate crisis and its impacts.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills.
- Experience in mechanical design and fabrication (machining, sheet metal, welding, etc.).
- Proficiency in one or more CAD software packages (Solidworks, Autodesk, etc.).
- Knowledge of CFD, thermal, and structural simulation.
- Familiarity with electrical systems design (sensors, microcontrollers, relays, etc.).
- Understanding of thermodynamics theory and modeling software (e.g., EES, REFPROP).
